David Hammel | Intern Compensation & Benefits | Labour Relations
Everybody knows that theory and practice are two different things.
That’s why I’m happy that during my program in economic law, Transmission Systems (formerly Getrag) offered me a chance to put the theoretical knowledge I learned into practice.
As an intern on the Compensation and Benefits / Labor Relations team, part of the Human Resources department, I got a look into the multifaceted range of tasks in the fields of labor law, income tax law and wage compensation.
My activities ranged from assisting in fundamental issues of labor law and litigation to fact assessment in tax matters to helping with rate classifications for job descriptions.
The broad range of activities gave me a chance to get to know a diversity of employees, from the headquarters in Untergruppenbach, on site at the individual plants, and across departments.
During my time as an intern, I especially liked the openness of my coworkers and the pleasant atmosphere of the whole company. It was good to feel immediately accepted.
To sum up, I can say that I will remember the internship as very valuable and having a very positive effect on my personal and professional development.
