Marlen Häfner | Intern, Supplier Management, Supplier Quality Development (SQD)
As part of my program in business engineering, I completed a 6-month internship at Transmission Systems (formerly Getrag) in Purchasing / Supplier Quality Development. A very intensive orientation quickly prepared me to take assignments on my own. I was given the job of APQP (Advanced Product Quality Planning) status reporting in a sports car project and assisted colleagues in purchasing external parts. During my internship, I experienced the great importance of supply reliability and dependable delivery. Here I helped with preplanning, evaluation and execution of Run@Rates for capacity hedging.
The tasks in supplier management are very diverse and exciting. I was able to work very independently, got a deep look into Transmission Systems' processes, and got an opportunity to learn about various production processes and technologies. Some of my highlights were on-site supplier visits, during which I would experience the manufacturing processes and error potentials, causes of defects and action for eliminating them!
My internship gave me a lot of new experiences and impressions, and I grew a lot professionally and personally. I learned quite a bit. Great value was placed on quick integration and active collaboration. I’d especially like to emphasize that my wishes regarding assignment types were discussed, so overall I had a great time in the Supplier Quality Development department!
