Developing transmissions is one of the supreme disciplines in automotive engineering. Our engineers work at the interface of mechanics, electronics, software and fluid management. This is what makes our work so challenging and complex.
Transmission Systems has more than 1,000 engineers worldwide working in interdisciplinary teams on solutions for the drivetrain of tomorrow – and indeed for all kinds of engines and many different vehicle architectures.
For example engineers of all disciplines are working in a team of twelve on the application of the 6DCT250 for the new Smart. An ambitious project, that seeks for an even more compact dual-clutch transmission for use in this A-segment car. Other teams are working on high-performance transmissions for sports cars like the Mercedes AMG GT or the La Ferrari. A wide and thrilling field of activity for any petrol-head engineer.
