Michael Hofmann | Senior Director Strat. Commodity Management Global
Sometimes I am surprised when I think I have been loyal to Transmission Systems (formerly Getrag) for over 25 years already. You could think that the work had become monotonous. But in this past quarter of a century, I have worked my way through so many different positions that it has been anything but boring: in addition to completing two apprenticeships and one study programme during my first years, I got to know many different sites. After working in Manufacturing and in Sales, in 1996 I decided to move to Purchasing. I had some fantastic experiences developing and managing the purchasing department in the plant in Bari, Italy, and in being the Project Manager for the purchasing department during the development of the joint venture with Ford of Europe. Hence I got to know not only the different national cultures, but also the different corporate cultures. This is how I have developed myself from an apprentice to Vice President of Global Commodity Purchasing & SCIP (Supplier Cost Improvement Program).
What fascinates me about Transmission Systems is the dynamic development I have witnessed over the past 15 years. For me, it is particularly reflected in the courage of this family business to participate in the global arena and develop new transmission technologies.
In all my positions , work has always been based on trust. Be it in Germany or abroad, I have always been encouraged to re-invent myself and try out new job profiles. What I can say today is that all over the world, we have first-class working conditions and, thanks to our products, excellent prospects for the future.
