GETRAG was originally a family company founded in Ludwigsburg, just north of Stuttgart, in 1935. It was this founding company that paved the way for international success for the GETRAG Corporate Group of today.

Even then, every cog and wheel revolved not around axles but our employees. Without them, we would never be where we are today.

The headquarters have been in Untergruppenbach since 2001. It is here at our center of excellence, or ‘InnovationsCenter’ in German, works in unison with all key administration departments on shaping the success of the company – through product development, testing, and prototype construction. Each and every employee is driven by the same ambition: to work together to develop technically superior solutions which are fine-tuned to the needs of the automotive industry. Their commitment and technical skills span a broad spectrum of products, including drivetrain components and transmission systems as well as a variety of ground-breaking dual clutch transmissions, all carefully tuned to the needs of cars, SUVs, motorbikes and light commercial vehicles.

GETRAG FORD Transmissions GmbH was founded in 2001 as the result of a joint venture between the automotive giant FORD and transmission specialist GETRAG. The new company combines the values of a family company with the strength of a global player. As a full-service automotive supplier we cover all upstream and downstream stages of the value chain – from initial concepts to prototypes and serial production. As well as housing company headquarters, the Cologne site is home to product development, production planning, central departments, prototype and test center as well as one production site. The core competencies at GETRAG FORD Transmissions are the development and production of manual and automatic transmissions as well as high-volume dual clutch transmissions for cars, SUVs and light commercial vehicles.
