Transmission control

Mechatronic transmission controls are developed using modern simulation techniques and tools.

To give ourselves a test and development platform, we create a stretched model of the drivetrain system in an offline simulation environment. This model supports the development and testing of the software at all stages of development and reproduces the behavior of the engine, transmission and vehicle as well as the actuators and sensors.

The transmission control functions are developed with the aid of a model-based software design package. Our engineers then simulate the transmission functions and drivetrain virtually in order to optimize and test the interplay of engine control, transmission control and vehicle electronics. We install Rapid Prototyping Tools in the vehicle itself to enable us to continue testing and improving the control functions. Finally, the functional models are converted with computer assistance and verified on the hardware-in-the-loop test stand in the control unit.

This ensures that the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical systems are coordinated to deliver an optimal transmission function and keep the gearshift process as imperceptible as possible.
